Semi-useful guide to fight spam-bots
« on: October 23, 2019, 12:10:58 AM »
This is an alternative to using the anti-spam plugins that come with some CMS like WordPress.

ALWAYS make a local copy of your .htaccess file before changing ANYTHING, otherwise you run the risk of your site not being accessible. Be careful.  ;)

That one you suggest is going to be very useful for the MyBB forum I'm building on a subdomain.

The CMS for the main website is older and no longer supported, so I may have to add some code manually, will look into it, fortunately I already have some clues: http://www.ulrich-block.de/spammer-webspell-und-stopforumspam-com/

Certainly this community was formed around nostalgia, the good ol' days of MP gaming... we also deliberately keep using things like TS, IRC, forums, instead of Discord, Twitch and the like.

What I did not expect, was to see half of the community in their actual HS days, because they mostly disregard the current gen of games they are supposed to be enjoying!  :o

So there we are, seniors and juniors on the same boat playing together haha  ;D cough cough, give me my pill son!
