Title: WPForms SMTP plugin for Wordpress
Post by: mamob07 on April 16, 2021, 06:55:42 PM
When I try to send a test email via the WPForms plugin for Wordpress, I get this error. In point 2 it says to check if some ports are blocked by some shared hosting. So my question is: Do you support connecting to external SMTP servers for sending mails via the WPForms plugin for Wordpress?

Howdie!

As the nature of free hosting, we usually get targeted by malicious users :(.

Unfortunately, to protect servers IP reputation, outgoing connection through port 25 is blocked . You can try using different SMTP port (465) and let us know how that works out :)

Ok, but 465 same problem. I tried 465 before try with 25.

Hmm. Have you tried checking with the email service provider (yandex?) to see if they are blocking anything on their end?

Confirmed on my end that the connection works and nothing is blocked on our end

Code: [Select]
telnet smtp.yandex.ru 465
Trying 77.88.21.158...
Connected to smtp.yandex.ru.

I tried to contact yandex.
While I am waiting for their answer, a doubt arose: is your firewall blocking the connection to SMTP servers via PHPMailer? Seeing the detailed error and going to the PHPMailer problems page, this doubt has arisen. I am attaching a screenshot of the detailed error.

If you refer to the message above, connection is open and enabled on our end.
