Future Project
« on: April 13, 2020, 01:04:34 AM »
This is an up-to-date version of my favorite PHP gaming CMS, Webspell. The devs are working actively on this script code and so....it works with PHP version 7.  :)  Basically it includes the same templates and plugins as the old one, but with the everpresent bootstrap, responsive design, some social stuff -discord and twitch streaming-  etc.

The site will be used for advertising a different community playing more modern games, not the classic ones. Buy another domain, build game servers...maybe next summer.

So I'm using this host to test it: http://themalebolge.byethost16.com/?i=1

And this is the CMS site, in german...no, I don't speak german either, but english installation and community support is also given: https://www.webspell-rm.de/

This is probably the best time to start and finish any projects.

So I finally changed my mind about that script... because while building our site I notice there was a lot of bad coding...however, I still refuse to build with Wordpress, as either I had to spend too much time customizing it to fit my needs, or pay a good amount for the (beautiful, must be said) themes.

And this is the new script, open source, built with Laravel, and perfect in every sense for small or big gaming communities: https://themalebolge.com/public/teams

Contentify is the name of the CMS: http://www.contentify.org/

I must admit, this looks way more cleaner and snappier.

How are you finding laravel over the traditional stuff?

So far I found this framework to be quite an improvement on several areas for site owners  :)

Better site maintenance, easily adding modern functions (like streaming or live twitter), variety of authentication options (as opposed to the old registering-only method), security against SQL injections, and highly customizable when it comes to the templates and design part.

It also uses a centralized dependency management including some third party modules, instead of the old plugin system, which makes it more stable and snappier.

Supposedly other things like seo optimized code, havenīt gone too deep into that.

For business sites and developers I imagine it would even have more advantages.
