Close the Support threads and warning system
« on: December 15, 2018, 11:16:41 AM »

Close Support threads
I am suggestion this too that if the person who opened the thread in the Support topic doesn't confirm that the answers helped him then they will get a warning.
For example:
- I am opening a topic
- Someone answer the topic with the helpful message which solve the problem
- I don't confirm after 1 week either that it helped me
- Then I will get a warning

So the thread owner will have 1 week to confirm if the answer helped him/her or not. If no answer then the staff members will close the thread and the thread owner will get warning points.

Another suggestion about warning system
If the member collected for example 10 warning points then they will be banned from the forum and terminated their hosting service.

It will help much to control both the forum and the hosting. Of course in this case everybody need to register with the same email.
To do this the forum registration needs to be changed to the admin manual approval. The forum admin or other staff members will check if the registered user use the same email as in the WHMCS or not. If not then the registration will be declined and/or the staff member can send an email to the specific email that "The registration declined because you didn't use the same email" or something like that.

So great suggestions as always. However, right now I am closing threads manually (granted slacking a bit). I can automate the process after X date of no activity or certain keyword usage. I do not want users to be warned as most users do not use forum unless they are having issue with something.

Manual verification can make things a bit tedious. While I have the option to integrate forum with whmcs, I would not do it in the mean time just for the sake of security unless I can confirm it is secured to do so. Whmcs did have a lot of issues in the past with the usage of their API and exposing data. Being closed source doesn't make things always easy.

Till we grow to a decent size and/or forum starts seeing more activity that we might need an additional mod/support help, I would pass on the idea. But, something I will definitely keep on my whiteboard.

Yeah, therefore I said only for Support topic. ( )
Even if people don't use the forum, they will eventually open a thread in Support topic one day, but the biggest problem is that they usually not answer if the answer helped or not and in this case can't close the thread nor the closed thread will be helpful who will search to that. Therefore people will open the same thread with similar question and everybody need to answer to the questions as a robot with the same answer.
Yeah some people will be lazy to search and therefore they will open again the thread which already exists and answered but in this case those who will answer, they can put an url where they can read the answer.
